After careers in medical microbiology, events management and raising 5 children, Sarah returned to her first love of painting when they relocated to Cornwall in 2012, away from suburbia, back to the sea.

Sarah is currently studying BA Fine Art at Falmouth University. Her work evolves from natural memories evoked by sight, sound and smell. Often the starting point is standing and looking, listening, smelling, imbibing atmosphere.

Landscape and seascape is given narrative by human presence; either literal or from marks left by former industry or habitation. A sense of place inferred from social history or spiritual connection. Familiar yet distant.

Back in the studio, memories and figures from old photos are conjoined with the plein air studies to work towards final pieces, using mediums and palettes germane to the subjects.
