Having sold her company and retired from the business world twelve years ago Kay reignited her passion for painting. She spent two years studying art part time at Hertfordshire University where she discovered a love for painting in oils. During this time, she developed a talent for painting pet portraits, for which she has since built up a successful following taking commissions, mainly for dogs but also cats and horses. More recently she has discovered coloured pencils which allows her to utilise her skills with working in detail, mainly producing botanical drawings. However, her first love is painting in oils where again she focuses on working in close detail.

Over the last ten years, Kay has been attending monthly two day workshops at the Childwickbury Arts Centre where her tutors are the renowned artists Christiane and Katharina Kubrick and Camilla Clutterbuck who encourage her to pursue her own individual style.

Kay has exhibited in various galleries in Hertfordshire and, most recently, for the third year, at the annual Ayot Art Fair in Ayot St Lawrence. She continues to take commissions for animal portraiture in addition to creating the diverse range of subjects shown in her paintings here at the Mosaic Gallery.
