Georgia Elliott

Georgia Elliott is an expressive landscape painter working from her studio near Milton Keynes, England. She graduated in 2013 with a BA (Hons) in Illustration. Living in Brighton she ran a successful scarf label; featured in Harpers Bazar Magazine, stocked in galleries and boutiques.

In 2018 Georgia moved to Buckinghamshire where a larger studio space and the arrival of her daughter inspired her to return to painting. Creating larger, more expressive works.

Georgia’s paintings are expressive, bold and alive with energy. Over the last few years she has exhibited regularly through her open studio weekends and has build a loyal following of repeat visitors, buyers and commission clients. She has exhibited at multiple UK galleries, including Cambridge Contemporary & through London art consultant The Art Buyer.

Endlessly inspired by the power of the sea & vast landscapes, these paintings have been my form of escapism in these challenging times. These multi-layered, energetic pieces reflect the rich, complicated & expressive nature of the landscape & ourselves.

Working with acrylic, oil pastel & pencil on wood I begin my paintings in a group with no distinct plan. I enjoy using energetic marks, mixing bold edges with looser paint textures. An emotional response to exploring colour, texture and line.

The combination of materials allows for many layers of paint to build, sanding and scraping back through this to reveal surprising textures and colours.

After 3-5 layers, I start to see a land or seascape emerging, sometimes recognising locations I have visited before. At this stage I bring control and composition to this seemingly unpredictable process.
